This assignment requires that the student interview a parent or relative about how technology has evolved throughout their lifetime and record the interview in a podcast. The instructions are recorded in my podcast which also includes some example questions.
The script of the podcast is as follows:
"For this assignment I would like you to interview a parent or grandparent about technological changes that have occurred throughout their lifetime. Ask them how the changes have affected his or her life positively or negatively and reflect on the results in your blog.
You will record the conversation on with a podcast, created at Voice Thread and then post it to your blog. Your interview should consist of 5 – 10 questions and should take between 3 – 5 minutes. Examples of some questions you might ask would include:
How is the world different now from when you were a child?
Of all the technological resources we have today, what is one that you wish you had when you were younger? Why?
Have technological advancements had an overall positive or negative effect on the world compared to when you were a teenager?
What is one invention or technology that you wish was never invented?
In your reflection, talk about what you learned, things that surprised you and if you enjoyed the activity."
Also, add at least 1 picture to the VoiceThread.
Example Podcast
VoiceThread was a very easy tool to use. I found several of the other Podcasting sites a little difficult to figure out. I also like that VoiceThread allows pictures within the podcast so that you're not just looking at an mp3 file play as you listen.

This looks like a great assignment for students. Keep in mind that part of the requirement for this assignment is to post your podcast to voicethread, which is a tool that allows for multiple forms of commenting.
